History

According to a newspaper article written in the 1960’s, Maritime industries, which was owned by Henry Swanepoel’s grandfather, had built the largest fiber-glass vessels in the world at the time, in Paarden Island, Cape Town, South Africa. Endeavoring to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps Maiden Voyage Industries was founded in 2017 by Henry Swanepoel Jnr. After Henry obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Pretoria, he ventured to explore the seas of the USA and Europe, working on the world’s most luxurious super-yachts. He then further enrolled in the Lloyds Maritime academy to obtain a certificate in Naval Architecture. He decided to return to South Africa to pursue a lifelong dream of designing and manufacturing sport-fishing vessels with the vision of developing a marine innovation company.

Concept

Maiden Voyage Industries manufactures high performance catamarans that excel in performance, quality and fuel efficiency. But, that is not all, Maiden Voyage Industries vessels are unmatched in user experience and accessibility, from rigging to everyday use. Kicking off the first design with the walk-around pilothouse, providing extra shelter from the elements and capturing the openness and fish-ability of a center console.

Design &
Features

Invicta is a custom-built 30ft power catamaran, featuring a high-performance hull with two transverse steps. This allows for passive ventilation, which decreases the wetted surface area and effectively increases fuel efficiency 10 – 15% when planning. Invicta is designed to withstand the harsh sea conditions fishermen encounter in and around the “Cape of Storms”. Maiden Voyage Industries can design and manufacture any interior to meet clients’ specifications and needs. Be it a luxury cruiser. whale-watching boat, center console, or a dive support vessel.

"Had the privilege of going on a run yesterday with this beauty of a boat. It's the newly built Invicta 30, design and built in Cape Town, South Africa, by MVI.

Words can not describe the feeling of comfort, but more than that, the comfort as it handles the water and how one feels so secure on it. This hull design will surely set the new standard for offshore fishing, especially when it comes to handling in not so comfortable sea states. We had mostly good conditions all the way up to Campsbay, but as we passed the bend to head towards Houtbay, the water turned and conditions got not so good, thus creating the perfect platform to see how Invicta will handle herself here. We pushed the throttles open a bit more, later turning to hit the waves at a angle, a bit more to hit it at complete side ways and even turned her to back her stern first directly into the wave conditions.

This boat is something of a fairytale story, as she took everything with ease and at no point made one feel insecure, infact, it just made me feel more comfortable and confident in it abilities!

To the MVI team i want to say a big thank you and congrats on building a superb fishing vessel."
